The Rules of Amateur Status define who is eligible to compete as an amateur golfer. Golf is largely self-regulating, and to help protect the integrity of the game by minimizing pressure on the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Handicapping, the Rules of Amateur Status limit the form and value of prizes an amateur golfer is allowed to accept based on performance in competition. It is important that players and administrators understand the Rules of Amateur Status, which can be found at RandA.org Equipment Rules The Equipment Rules contain the comprehensive Rules, specifications and guidelines to assist equipment manufacturers and designers, tournament officials and players in understanding and applying the Rules relating to the design and manufacture of golf clubs, balls and other equipment.
